One labelled,
with a simple
symbol-key.
The other
with a picturesque
symbol-lock-et.
There were dents
in her key box,
caused by the
multitude
of scraps she'd
forced in.
The other
in pristine condition.
It had, after all,
only a few sheets
with simplistic
never-sent-messages.
She kept them both
hidden in the forest
buried beneath the trenches
she had dug with her thoughts.
And at night
she would lay
eyes glazed
dissecting the ceiling.
Listening to her own voice repeat
the same desperation she'd locked away
as scraps turned into sheets of steel
and crushed her beneath their weight.
